Obituary

Kishore Nadkarni, Ph.D., of East Brunswick, New Jersey, passed away on the morning of April 7, 2020, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. He was 81 years old.

Kishore was born in Karwar, on the west coast of India to Anand and Ramabai Nadkarni. He was educated in various cities on the west coast of India before graduating from The Royal Institute of Science at the University of Bombay, receiving a Master's and Doctoral degree in Analytical Chemistry. He moved to the University of Kentucky and Cornell University where he worked as a postdoctoral fellow, followed by a few years as the manager at Cornell University's Materials Science Center. At Cornell, he worked on analyzing lunar samples returned by Apollo 15 through 18 missions.

Overall, Kishore has published over 100 technical papers in various chemical journals, and written 8 books, all published by ASTM. He was a member of the American Chemical Society and ASTM. He won several awards from ASTM including its highest award—Award of Merit—and Charles B. Dudley Award for Best Publication.

Kishore is predeceased by his beloved wife, Nancy Joanne Nadkarni. Kishore is survived by his daughters Sujata Nadkarni and her partner Steve Pump of Evanston, IL; Sharmila DeCamp and her husband Michael DeCamp of Manalapan, NJ; and Lisha Nadkarni and her husband Svanur Pétursson of Brooklyn, NY; and his grandsons, Anand and Devan DeCamp of Manalapan, NJ. He is also survived by his sisters Vrinda Divekar and her husband Arvind Divekar, Sharad Satam and her husband Baban Satam; his nephews Chetan Divekar and his wife Sheela, Sagar Divekar and his wife Raji, and Vinay Satam; his niece Namrata Satam; his sister-in-law Winetta Billings; as well as many other beloved family members in Texas, India, and New Zealand.

Private funeral services will be held Friday, April 10, 2020, followed by a burial at Frost Woods Memorial Park, East Brunswick, NJ. Arrangements are by The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N. Main St-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. You may sign the online condolence "guestbook" at www.crabiel.com
